OneCare residents celebrated in 10 Days on the Island Exhibition
We are thrilled to be a part of the 10 days on the Island festival for the Eyes as Big as Plates exhibition, alongside Salamanca Arts Centre.
Featuring new work from Tasmania alongside images from across the globe, the Eyes as Big as Plates exhibition officially opens tomorrow at Salamanca Arts Centre and and will see Tasmanian seniors featured in new photographic work that explores humans’ relationship to nature.
OneCare residents from Burnie and Kingston have had their stories captured by Scandinavian artists Ikonen and Hjorth, who fuse folklore and photography to ask giant questions about ageing and our relationship to nature.
“As active participants in our contemporary society, these seniors encourage the rediscovery of a demographic group too often labelled as marginalised or even as a stereotypical cliché.”
It is in this light that the project aims to generate new perspectives on who we are and where we belong.
